In South Asia, in particular, in Bangladesh, there is a shortage of pulp due to a decrease in imports of such a product. The crisis has already become quite a serious problem. This is already known to those who buys old books and other types of waste paper. To get out of the problematic situation, paper manufacturers in this country have decided to use paper waste to support the activities of their enterprises. As a result, assemblers of recycled paper, as well as fairly large suppliers, became more active.
In Bangladesh, they began to diligently collect waste paper. However, this does not fully meet the needs of local paper producers. As you know, quite a lot of raw materials are needed to produce such a product. If there is no primary raw material, then secondary raw materials are used. However, for the profitability of production, it is necessary to have as much of it as the primary one. For example, for the normal operation of one of the enterprises, approximately 80 tons are needed. But local collectors can only provide 15-20 tons.
Paper producers say that the reduction in pulp imports will lead to a decrease in the quality of the manufactured product. Not all enterprises are able to ensure the production of high-quality paper, because in some cases it is not possible to use advanced technologies.
Bangladesh’s leading paper producers are still trying to find a way out of this situation. They have to enter the global waste paper market in order to purchase the required amount of raw materials. The crisis in the supply of cellulose dictates its terms. However, local producers do not despair. Representatives of large paper companies say that they will be able to meet the needs of the regional market, which relate to the supply of good quality paper.
