Textile waste is a major issue, but Parachute and SuperCircle are offering a solution. Partnering for the first time, these companies are launching an in-store textile recycling program across Parachute’s 26 US stores.
Consumers can bring in used sheets, towels, pillows, and robes (any brand, any condition) for recycling. SuperCircle will then sort and give these textiles a new life, transforming them into fresh fabrics, furniture padding, or insulation.
This initiative is driven by Parachute’s environmental commitment. Knowing 85% of US textiles end up in landfills, they’re taking action to minimize waste. The partnership also benefits customers with a 15% discount on their next Parachute purchase.
The program reflects growing consumer demand for sustainable brands. Over 70% of US consumers would adjust their shopping habits based on a brand’s sustainability practices.
Sustainability experts see promise in textile take-back programs, but caution is needed. Danielle Vermeer, CEO of Teleport, emphasizes the importance of energy-efficient and minimal-chemical processing to ensure true environmental benefit.
This program is Parachute’s first step towards a more circular future for textiles. By working with SuperCircle, they’re tackling textile waste at scale and paving the way for a more sustainable industry.
