It has been recorded that, since 2017, exports of a product such as recovered paper from EU countries have increased by more than 40 percent. In the last year alone, a very high level of supply indicators has been achieved. In 2023, supplies amounted to 7 million tons. Exports increased because demand for the above product fell within the European Union. At the same time, waste paper, including old corrugated cardboard, was in demand among recyclers. Paper mills have reduced their requirements for remanufactured product. As a result, the products had to be exported outside the EU countries.
India remains the main buyer. There are many buyers in this country who want to purchase recycled paper. Moreover, Europe is much closer to India than, for example, the United States of America. The second country in terms of procurement volume is Indonesia. This country is also willing to purchase recovered paper from Europe. Of course, supplies also come from the American continents. Because the demands of the same Indian consumers are quite high. But it is important to understand that there is a considerable demand for recovered paper. Accordingly, there will be a demand for waste paper, which is used to produce such a product. And the more requests for supplies appear, the harder processors will work. And, as you know, they need raw materials. Will waste paper increase in price? It is quite difficult to predict price increases in this industry. A lot depends on related factors. But we, as a waste broker, can confirm that there is a demand for waste paper and it will always exist.
