European Startup Replaces Plastic with Tree Bark Packaging

Bpacks, a European startup pioneering tree bark-based packaging, has successfully raised €1 million in pre-seed funding. This innovative company has developed a composite material using a proprietary formula that can be manufactured using existing plastic production equipment and pulp molding technology.  

Partnership with Gomex

Bpacks has secured a significant partnership with the retailer Gomex, rolling out its tree bark-based packaging across over 300 stores in Southern Europe.  

Funding and Future Plans

The pre-seed funding will be used to purchase equipment for the company’s Belgrade production site and expand its research and development team. Bpacks aims to secure a seed round by March 2025, establish its own manufacturing facility, and build a robust supply chain.  

Product Development and Applications

Bpacks is developing a range of products, including food trays, coffee cups, and containers for beauty products. The company is particularly interested in the beauty industry, which is actively seeking sustainable alternatives to plastic and glass.
