Canada is committed to ensuring that most waste is recycled. Work is also underway to reduce waste. In the province of British Columbia, the ministry responsible for environmental protection decided to collect information by contacting local authorities. The appeal pointed out the need to reduce the amount of waste generated as a result of the activities of various organizations. In particular, we are talking about business in areas such as restaurants, cafes, shops, etc. So-called commercial waste is not currently included in the recycling program for paper products, including packaging. Such a program exists at the provincial level. And its capabilities, according to the ministry, should be actively used.
In British Columbia, various sessions are planned to discuss this issue, as well as workshops that will discuss documenting the inclusion of commercial waste in the above program. Federal authorities call on local authorities to become more active in resolving the issue. After all, a lot depends on the regions, including whether paper waste, in particular old corrugated cardboard, which can be recycled and be useful as materials for the manufacture of new products, will be properly disposed of.
